For the RX family Renesas made a bootloader capable of loading and flashing a firmware file from an USB memory stick. With the Synergy family I've seen that the SSP 1.2.0 beta includes a bootloader/downloader approach where the bootloader never gets modified but the downloader is embedded inside the main program. While this may be useful in the lab, it is very dangerous in the field, because any problem flashing the main program kills the device and it has to be repaired. The RX approach does not have this problem because the bootloader itself never gets modified. Are there plans to implement a memory stick bootloader-flasher?
